RUSA- Infrastructure Grants to Colleges (Component-7)

In 12th and 13th Plan, Government of India has proposed a comprehensive plan for the development to attain higher levels of access, equity and excellence in the State higher education system. This led to the formulation of the ambitious Central scheme namely Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) for strategic utilization of central funds to ensure comprehensive and optimum planning at the State level. The allocation of funds under RUSA is based on well defined norms and parameters and linked to certain key academic, administrative and governance reforms in the State higher education system. This scheme is implemented and monitored by State Project Director and Commissioner, A.P Collegiate Education, Vijayawada at state level. Under the state, total 56 Government Degree Colleges were selected and sanctioned for an amount of Rs.2 Crores each towards Infrastructure Grants under RUSA Component – 7. Out of this total sanction of Rs. 2 Crores, Rs.70 Lakhs was earmarked for construction of new buildings, Rs. 70 Lakhs for renovation/upgradation of the existing facilities and Rs. 60 Lakhs for purchase of equipment. A.S.D.Govt.Degree College forWomen (A), Kakinada is also benefited under RUSA scheme and procured the below items.
